The Ylläs fell is a 719 meter high mountain in Western Lapland in the municipality of Kolari. To the north of the mountain is the village of Äkäslompolo and to the south is Ylläsjärvi.
Villa Lompolo is located in Äkäslompolo, also known as the "Village of the Seven Mountains". The mountains or fells surrounding Äkäslompolo are called Yllästunturi, Kuertunturi, Kukastunturi, Pyhätunturi, Kesänki, Lainiotunturi and Kellostapuli. Between them runs Finland's largest hiking and skiing trail network, more than 300 kilometers long.
The Ylläs fell has the best and longest ski slopes in Finland. The network of more than 60 slopes offers enough challenges for every skier. There are more than 400 kilometers of snowmobile trails in the Ylläs area.
Kellokas Nature Center is located along the beautiful road between the Äkäslompolo and Ylläsjärvi villages. The Ylläs area is home to Finland's most popular and third largest national park, Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park. Popular hiking trails in the area run through the rugged mountain scenery of the national park.
Ylläs has also been chosen as the best mountain biking destination in Finland. There are 190 kilometers of mountain biking trails in Ylläs and they can be found for both experienced mountain bikers and beginners. During the summer, unforgettable experiences are available at Ylläs Bike Park, where you can cycle down from the top of the mountain.
For fishermen, the surroundings of Ylläs are a paradise. There are mountain lakes, forest ponds, rivers and small streams, and a half-hour drive away is also a real salmon river, the Tornio-Muonio river on the border of Finland and Sweden.
Äkäslompolo is a lively village in all seasons. There is a combination of top-class services and nature experiences for every traveler. You're always welcome!
